OperaGene Mission: My goal is to help opera fans, and those who just want to check it out, access and enjoy opera. I have known that I have the opera gene since about 2011. Nourishing my new interest has been fun, but took some effort and met with some unexpected challenges. I want to share what I have learned with OperaGene readers and benefit from their feedback. On my journey, I have found that connecting with others who enjoy opera is really helpful, but not necessarily all that easy. My intent is to place here information and commentary, that opera fans and potential fans will find engaging and helpful, and the opera-goer in the mid-Atlantic region of the US will find useful, and to invite feedback and sharing from my opera-loving colleagues. This is a site for opera fans from all walks of life and all levels of familiarity with opera, and those who might want to try opera, in other words, those who share or think they might share “the opera gene."
The additional About pages in the menu above discuss all this in more detail, but basically, OperaGene hopes to make pursuing your interest in opera easier and more fun.
